We were told to make a collage with the remnants of our spray painted pieces and could go in any direction we wanted to with it. I wanted to continue the flower theme of my spray painted piece so I used stencils to trace them with white pencil onto the black paper. I liked how this piece was made with left over scraps and it just shows that art can be created with anything even if it may look like trash.

Sacred Vessel
The sacred vessel I chose was the transformation from a callipiter to a butterfly and the process it has to go through. The callipiter starts out as a normal looking bug who doesnt look to important and special but goes through the process of going into a cocoon for a very long time to develop into a beautiful butterfly. Once it emerges from the cocoon into a butterfly, it has a very short life span and doesn't live any longer than a few days. I thought this was very interesting because a callipiter spends so much time becoming beautiful and transforming and ends up dying.
This series was all free hand painted with acrylic paints and water color on the background. I didn't trace anything or draw anything before. I got the leaves from outside and rolled paint on it and pressed it on the page.

spray paint
We were given a black board and were told to cut out shapes to spray paint. I started out with tracing the quote "Life is hard but so very beautiful" on a piece of large white paper in bubble letters. I used an exacto knife to cut the letters out leaving a stencil of the words. I then used another sheet of white paper and cut out stems for 3 different lengths of flowers and cut out the petals by cutting out one for each flower and then tracing it many times to make it the same shape and size. I spray painted the flowers on first and made sure to tape it down to the board well so that the design that i wanted would come out correct and used blue and green spray paint. for the letters, I took the flowers off and then taped down the letters over the board wherever i wanted it and sprayed very closely to the letters with pink and orange.

This was created on illustrator CS6 which took a hard time to understand i labeled which one i made first second and third, and as you can see my skill improved each time personally. It was very different than anything I have done in art but I enjoyed it and am thankful that I know how to use illustrator for future references.
